Alpine Coaster and Oberammergau, Germany

The day after we attended the Partenkirchen Festival we walked into town again.  We visited the local Farmers Market and grabbed a few last minute treats.  We ended the day with another visit to the pool and a relaxing dinner in the cabin.

Our last full day in Germany we had one more activity planned just for the kids.  After a relaxing morning we met our tour in the lobby of the resort and headed towards the local Alpine Coaster.  All of them were super excited!

The Alpine Coaster is about a 30 minute ride from Edelweiss.  When you arrive you catch a ski lift up to the top of the mountain.  The ride seemed like it took forever, especially for someone afraid of heights (me!).  It probably only took about 15-20 minutes.

Once at the top of the mountain there is a playground for little ones to play at and a restaurant.  We grabbed one last authentic German meal.  The kase spetzel is amazing!  As we were sitting enjoying our meal a small German band came and sat next to us and started playing.  You can’t get more traditional than that.

We finished eating and let the kids play until it was our turn to head down the mountain.  Then we strapped in for the ride of a lifetime!

If you’re ever visiting Bavaria and have a chance to ride an Alpine Coaster, DO IT!!!  It was so much fun.  The kids have a hard time deciding whether the coaster or the rafting was the best part of the trip.  I think they would all choose both!  Not sure why they didn’t love visiting the castles just as much, lol.

Once everyone was finished with their coaster rides we headed to Oberammergau to walk around and visit. Oberammergau is the home of the World Famous Passion Play.  The Passion Play is only performed every 10 years and only native citizens of Oberammergau are allowed to participate.

We walked around the little town and visited a beautiful Christmas shop and various other stores.  We also ate some more delicious ice cream.  I don’t know what it is about their ice cream shops, but seriously they are the best!!!

After picking up a few more souvenirs, we headed back to the coach.  It was a relaxing and fun way to end our two week trip.

The next day we headed back to real life after the trip of a lifetime.  I am so glad we took the time to explore such a beautiful part of the world and learn a lot about their culture and lifestyle.  It’s a trip we will never forget.
