One of my husband’s requests after our first trip to London was to stay in a hotel within view of Big Ben. I was convinced that the request would go unanswered due to the cost of staying in the heart of Westminster. When it came time to make reservations for this trip I was very excited to find Park Plaza Westminster as an option.
Normally when I am looking for rooms in London I am looking for rooms, I am looking for rooms that sleep 5 people. Not an easy task. Rooms large enough to sleep 5 are hard to come by in London (really all of Europe). When I was searching this time though I realized that we needed two rooms since we would have my mother-in-law along. Looking for rooms that sleep 3 opened a lot of options for us.
Park Plaza Westminster is located across the Thames River from Big Ben. It has an amazing view of the clock from the front of the hotel. It is also located within a 10 minutes walk of Waterloo Train Station which made it very easy to get to.
The rooms that I reserved were awesome. We had a king size bed in the main bedroom area and a sofa bed in the living room space of the room. The room was large and spacious. We didn’t get a room with a great view, but the location of the hotel made up for the lack of view. It was so easy to walk to Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, The London Eye, and even Buckingham Palace wasn’t too bad of a walk. We had short taxi rides back to the hotel from Kensington Palace and The Hard Rock Cafe also.

I added on the hotel breakfast when I booked the hotel. This turned out to be absolutely great addition to our stay. Having a full cooked breakfast every morning right in the hotel ended up being a great time saver not having to find another place to eat. It also ended up being a great value. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of cooked foods including sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns etc. There was also a variety of cold items including cheese, breads, pastries, and cereal. Every morning we filled up before site-seeing.
We usually had a late lunch out while site-seeing but came back to the hotel each evening. We ordered room service for the kids most evenings. The price was competitive for room service and the kids enjoyed getting to eat and relax in the room and avoid another restaurant. The rest of us enjoyed the hotel lounge having appetizers from the bar menu one night and another night we enjoyed sushi from the restaurant located in the hotel. The food and drinks from the hotel were very good and the convenience couldn’t be beat.

All in all, I was very pleased with Park Plaza Westminster Hotel and I would gladly book there again when we have guests with us or if it is just us as a family because they also have suites available to book which will fit the 5 of us nicely.
